After considerable anticipation, Bvlgari has unveiled a new, more compact 37mm iteration of its highly successful ultra-thin timepiece, the Octo Finissimo. This smaller dimension has been a frequent request from enthusiasts and addresses the desire for a more adaptable size for various wrist dimensions. Fabrizio Buonamassa Stigliani, Bvlgari's executive and design director for product creation, noted that the demand for this size was not merely a response to the trend for smaller watches but also a practical consideration due to the Octo Finissimo's inherently larger-wearing square profile.

The Octo Finissimo line, since its introduction in 2014, has achieved remarkable recognition in contemporary horology, setting ten world records for ultra-thin watchmaking. This includes two distinctions for the slimmest mechanical watches globally. The original 40mm Automatic model, which debuted a few years after the initial launch, has been released in multiple materials, such as sandblasted titanium, stainless steel, 18k gold, and ceramic. The introduction of the 37mm version, available in matte sandblasted titanium, brushed and polished titanium, and yellow gold, represents a significant refinement that balances elegant futurism with the practical appeal of a classic instrument watch.

Wearing the 37mm Octo Finissimo provides a distinct experience, setting it apart from other timepieces on the market. Its lightness, in contrast to heavier sports watches, offers both a refreshing sensation and a hint of fragility. The watch's design, characterized by an octagon-within-a-circle-within-a-square motif, draws inspiration from ancient Roman architecture, Italian design, automotive aesthetics, and Bvlgari's jewelry heritage. The new Bvlgari BVF 100 movement, at just 2.35mm thick, powers the watch with a platinum micro-rotor, offering an impressive 72-hour power reserve, a 20% increase over the 40mm version despite its smaller volume. While its unique aesthetic may not suit everyone as an everyday watch, its exceptional design and technical achievements make it a captivating addition for serious collectors.

The Bvlgari Octo Finissimo embodies innovation and a departure from traditional watch design, appealing to those who appreciate a blend of artistic expression and mechanical mastery. Its distinctive character invites wearers to explore beyond conventional horological expectations, fostering a deeper appreciation for the artistry and engineering involved in creating such a singular timepiece. This watch is not just a timekeeping device but a statement of individuality and refined taste.
